Good Sunday morning my fellow stampers. How is everyone’s weekend going? I have off today, but I will be doing some work around my house. Time for some fall cleaning to get done. I have to take down summer decorations and put up the fall. It was chilly here this morning. When I got up this morning it was only 40 degrees outside. A definite sign that fall is here.
I have a Clean And Simple card for you today using the Masking Technique. I went back to the basics using Stamps, Ink and Paper. I tend to forget about simple when I’m making cards sometimes. The very first workshop I went to years ago, we did not do simple cards. Here’s my card for today.
I’m playing along with Fab Friday Challenge #197. Here is their sketch.
I started by stamping 3 of the poinsettia image from the Stampin’ Up! Poinsettia Petals Photopolymer Stamp Set in Merry Merlot Ink on a panel of Whisper White cardstock. I also stamped the image once on 2 Post-It notes. I fussy cut the Post-It note images using my Paper Snips to use for my Masking Technique. If you ever look at a poinsettia, the leaves around the flower are identical to the flower petals. This is why I wanted to used the same leaves under the flower images.
I placed the Post-It note masks over the center and one of the side images so that I wouldn’t stamp over them. I stamped the largest poinsettia layering image from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set in Garden Green Ink over and around the masked images. I move the side Post-It to the other side image and stamped the large poinsettia image again in Garden Green Ink. I removed the Post-Its and colored the images in using my Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight and Just Jade Stampin’ Blends Markers.
I stamped the sentiment from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set on a small panel of Whisper White cardstock In Merry Merlot Ink. I adhered the sentiment to the top of a strip of Merry Merlot cardstock, which I cut into a banner using my Paper Snips, using Stampin’ Seal just on the bottom of the sentiment. I adhered the sentiment to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I adhered the card front to a Merry Merlot mat using Stampin’ Seal and then to a Merry Merlot card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
On the inside I stamped the sentiment from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set in Merry Merlot Ink in the center of a Whisper White panel. I stamped the poinsettia image from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set in Merry Merlot Ink on the bottom of the panel. Using the Masking Technique again, I stamped the largest layering poinsettia image from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set in Garden Green Ink over the image. I colored the image in using my Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight and Just Jade Stampin’ Blends Markers. I adhered the Whisper White panel to a Merry Merlot mat using Stampn’ Seal and then to the inside of the Merry Merlot card base using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
To finish my card I decorated a Medium Whisper White Envelope. I stamped the poinsettia image from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set in Merry Merlot Ink on the envelope front and flap. Using the Masking Technique once again, I stamped the largest layering poinsettia image from the Poinsettia Petals stamp set in Garden Green Ink over the image. I colored the images in using my Cherry Cobbler, Daffodil Delight and Just Jade Stampin’ Blends Markers.
Thank you for stopping by my blog today. I hope you liked my card using the Masking Technique and will give it a try. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to drop me a note at creativestampingdesigns@gmail.com. I’d be more that happy to help you. This is a great technique that only uses Stamp, Ink and Paper, but looks like you did so much more. Happy Stamping!!
