Stampin’ Up! Bird Ballad Pinwheel for Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop

Good Thursday morning my fellow stampers and welcome to the Happy Inkin’ Thursday Blog Hop.  How is everyone doing today?  If you are hopping over from Akiko, thank you for stopping by. Be sure to take a moment to hop around to see everyone’s beautiful projects today. This week we had a Color Challenge, here are the colors we got to work with.

Here is my card using these beautiful colors.  I just love Petal Pink and Pool Party together.

I thought I would pull out some scraps of DSP from the Annual Catalog.  I’ve been wanting to try this card and it’s a perfect way to use up some of your scraps.  I started by embossing a Petal Pink card front using the Eyelet Lace Embossing Folder.  I adhered the  embossed panel to a Petal Pink card base using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  I took 2 Whisper White panels and adhered them to 2 Pool Party mats using Snail.  Using my Grid Paper for a guide, I adhered one on top of the other so that all sides and points were equal, using Multipurpose Liquid Glue so I had a little wiggle room.

I started at the top and only putting Snail on one side of the Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper square, I adhered it to the Whisper White panel making sure there was an equal edge around the top.  I continued around the squares adhering every other design of DSP overlapping the left corner of the square on the previous piece and making sure there was an equal edge around the tops.  Each square I put Snail on 2 of the sides.  When I got to the last piece I adhered the left side on the previous piece and tucked the right side under the 1st piece I put down (that is why you only put Snail on one side of the 1st piece).  I then added a little Snail to the 1st piece on the edge overlapping.  I hope this makes sense.  I adhered my pinwheel to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I tied a small bow using the Petal Pink Metallic Edge Ribbon and adhered it to the center of the pinwheel using a Glue Dot.

On a small piece of Whisper White cardstock, I stamped the sentiment from the Stampin’ Up! Free As A Bird Cling Stamp Set in Pool Party Ink.  I cut the sentiment out using the smallest Stitched Nested Labels Dies.  I cut a piece of Pool Party cardstock using the next size Stitched Nested Labels Dies.  I adhered the sentiment to the Pool Party mat using Snail and then to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I added a Petal Pink Frosted Flower Embellishment to the side of the sentiment.

On the inside I stamped the sentiment from the Stampin’ Up! Friend Like You Photopolymer Stamp Set in Pool Party Ink in the center of a Whisper White panel.  I stamped the large and small flowers from the Free As A Bird stamp set in Soft Suede Ink on the sides of the sentiment.  I colored the flowers in using my Petal Pink and Pool Party Stampin’ Blends Markers.  I adhered the Whisper White panel to a Pool Party mat using Snail and then to the inside of the Petal Pink card base using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

To finish my card I decorated a Medium Whisper White Envelope.  I stamped a cluster of flowers from the Free As A Bird stamp set in Soft Suede Ink on the envelope front.  I colored the flowers in using my Petal Pink and Pool Party Stampin’ Blends Markers.  I adhered a panel of the Bird Ballad DSP to the envelope flap.

Thank you for visiting my blog today.  I hope you liked my card and will give it a try.  As always, if you have any questions or can’t understand my directions, drop me a message and I will try to explain it better.  Now that you’ve seen my card you can hit the next button to hop over to Amy Koenders blog or you can just click on the names below. Happy Hopping!!

  1. I love pinwheel cards. I haven’t made one in quite awhile. I think I see hidden Mickeys in the embossed layer. I think I need to order that EF now…lol.
